Dana L. Weiss, 88, of West Burlington, died Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.

Born Feb. 14, 1936, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Benjamin N. and Esther Deitsch Wagler. On May 7, 1955, she married James Edward Weiss in St. John's Church in Burlington. He died on Dec. 31, 2019.

Dana's most important job was being a homemaker and mother. She also worked for H&R Block, Younkers and the Burlington Welcome Center. 

She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and was a part of the alter and rosary society. Dana enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, mushroom hunting and gardening. She enjoyed playing cards with her ladies. Most of all, Dana loved to spend time with her family. 

Survivors include two sons, Bradley (Juli) Weiss and Brian David Weiss; daughter, Laura (Randy) Ferguson; seven grandchildren, Melissa Weiss, Kyle Rex Boyer, Benjamin (Maegan) Weiss, Alison (Andrew) Price, Rachel Dannies Weiss, James "Blake" Cary, and Justin Weiss; several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Wagler; sister, Karen Schemmel and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Mark Weiss, one daughter-in-law, Earlene Weiss, one brother, William (Marjorie) Wagler, one sister, Phyllis (Ralph) White, brother-in-law, Jim Schemmel, sister-in-law, Wendy Wagler, and two great-grandchildren, Clayton Connelly and Aurianna Lloyd.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Visitation with the family to receive friends will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington.

The Memorial Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Weiss will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington with Fr. Dominic Nguyen as the Celebrant. Inurnment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.  A time of food and fellowship will be held at St. Mary's Parish Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry and Divine Mercy Parish.
