Joanne Carol Mauer, 83, of Burlington, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born July 13, 1938, in Omaha, Neb., she was the daughter of Joseph and Martha Wahl Bruner. On May 27, 1961, she married Bill Lee Mauer. He died on Dec. 7, 2000.
She graduated from South Omaha High School.
Joanne was the co-owner of Five Flags before her retirement.
She enjoyed reading, crosswords, music, gardening, going to the casino, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Brent Mauer of Mediapolis; daughter, Lisa Mauer of Burlington; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two on the way; and brother, Russ Bruner of Neb.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Lyla.
Visitation will be from 12 until 4 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17 at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home.
A private family burial will be in Hawkeye Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Transitions DMC, Inc. and Hawkeye Cemetery Fund.
