Gene A. Krenz, 78, of Burlington, died September 12, 2022, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Born April 4, 1944, in Waterloo, he was the son of Gerald and Bernice Krenz. On June 15, 1968, he married Debbie Ehlers in Iowa City.
Gene received his Bachelor's Degree in finance from Drake University.
He spend his career in banking and retired as the President of First National Bank in 1992.
Gene was a C & E member of First Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Rotary Club, YMCA Board, Girl Scout Board, and Burlington Golf Club. He enjoyed golfing, farming, playing Pitch, and working in the yard. Gene loved to spend winters in Florida and spend time with his daughters and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Debbie Krenz; two daughters, Kari Krenz-Downey (Blane Peterson) of Portland, Ore., and Stacie Woods (Dennis) of Seattle, Wash.; four grandchildren, Rae and Claire Downey, Maya and Sienna Woods.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Krenz.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
The celebration of life for Mr. Krenz will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2022, at the Burlington Golf Club.
A memorial has been established for the Burlington Golf Club.
