Brian Scot Richardson, 66, died at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House surrounded by his loving family on Dec. 25, 2023.

Brian was born on March 27, 1957, in Burlington to Earnest Arthur “Art” and Patricia Ann Farrington Richardson.

Brian was a graduate of Burlington Community High School in 1975. He was a member of West Hill United Methodist Church and he enjoyed playing on the church softball team.

He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He especially enjoyed the Iowa-Iowa State games, since his son Matthew was an Iowa State fan. You would often hear the two of them fighting over which team was better than the other. Matthew and his dad enjoyed watching sports together, especially the Chicago Bears. Brian was in Cub Scouts, on the YMCA swim team, a member of New London Jaycees, a member of DeMolay, a member of Burlington Baseball Association and he enjoyed his mission trip to Uganda. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his son grow up.

Survivors include two sons Matthew Richardson and Ryan Leone; two daughters Anika (Matt) McVay and Ashleigh (Montra Pearson) Richardson; seven grandchildren Kylinn, Hayden, C.J., Tavi, Kinnick, Reagan and Demi; two sisters Rhonda Sperry and Carla Richardson; nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephew; one great grand-nephew; many cousins and special friends Dean and Christine Walker.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
