John Gilbert Rheinschmidt, 91, of Middletown, died Saturday, March 22, 2025, at his home.

Born March 11, 1934, in Tracy, Mo., he was the son of Milton Elmer and Elenor Breuer Rheinschmidt. On Sept. 16, 1999, he married Connie L. Seager in Forsythe, MO.&nbsp;

He worked for forty years at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, and later drove a city bus for several years.

Gil was a very hard worker who appreciated helping his friends and family. &nbsp;He enjoyed working on cars and houses, helping his family with building decks and various other projects. &nbsp;He was a jack of all trades and could do just about everything. &nbsp;His kindness and generosity will be missed, but his memory will continue on through all who love him.

Gil's family include his wife, Connie L. Rheinschmidt; children, John (Elaine) Rheinschmidt of Rio Rancho, N.M., Merilynn Rheinschmidt of Oceanside, Calif., Christina (Robert) Steilen of Oceanside, Calif.; brother, Ronald (Marthe) Rheinschmidt of Burlington; grandson, Christopher Steilen; four half-sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Kay, Patty, Rosie and Myrna; and half-brother, Arthur Rawlings.&nbsp;

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. &nbsp;No services are scheduled at this time.
