Colleen Lea Ross, 75, of Burlington, died Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington. Born May 4, 1950, she was the daughter of Claude and Leah Rhum. She married Richard Ross in October of 1977 in Mount Pleasant.
Colleen was a bank teller for a few years and then became the financial director for the Des Moines County Clerk of Court for 20 years until her retirement in 2010.
She was a Chicago Cubs fanatic! She loved playing cards with family and friends, playing Candy Crush on her phone and was an avid reader. She loved to travel and visited all 50 states, with her favorite being the South and along with her sister Connie, she visited every major league baseball stadium. Her greatest joy was her time spent with her grandkids, great grandkids and her family.
Survivors include her husband Richard Ross of Burlington; daughter Jennifer Mullenix of New London; granddaughter Dakotah (Sam) Craig of New London and grandsons Dayton Mullenix of Salem, Iowa and Dawson Mullenix of New London.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son Aaron Ross.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 5 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.
According to her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
Burial will be held at a later date in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House or to the Friends of Burlington Public Library.
