Michael Nick Verootis, 80, of Burlington, died Friday, March 29, 2024, at his home.
Born August 16, 1943, in Omaha, Neb., he was the son of Nick and Georgia Verootis.
After graduating high school, he earned his Welding Tech degree from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and was an Army veteran.
Mike was a welder and consultant for Flint Cliffs Manufacturing for several years until his retirement in 2001.
He loved going to auctions, casinos, collecting elephants and fixing small appliances.
Mike is survived by the love of his life, Jill, children; Cassandra Drew, Michael John Verootis, Jonathan Hill and Allee Hill; granddaughter Paige Drew; sister Sophia Frees; Jill’s mother, Jacque Hill; sisters, Sherry Locke and Julia Miller and grandchildren Gunner Hill, Calvin Lair, Matthew Hill and William Hill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Nick Bagles.
The graveside funeral service and entombment for Mr. Verootis will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2 at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, April 1 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.
