Leo “Jumpy” Robinson Jr., age 84, died Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, N.Y. surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Oct. 17, 1938, in Keokuk. He was the son of Leo Edward and Mary Azlean Robinson. Leo attended Keokuk High School where he received the nickname “Jumpy” for his athletic ability.

Leo enlisted into the U.S. Air Force at the young age of 17, serving from January 4, 1956, until October 16, 1959. While serving he developed many skill sets, one of them being the ability to operate heavy machinery which later translated for Leo when he became a truck driver for Riley Brothers. Leo also worked as a welder for Ceco Building Systems in Mt. Pleasant for 28 years. 

Some of Leo’s favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, and watching sports. He specifically loved watching the Los Angeles Dodgers, Dallas Cowboys, and playing cards while enjoying his all-time favorite snack of choice, jelly beans.

He is survived by his son, Trent L (Dolores) Robinson; his grandchildren, Candace Ives, Carissa Jenkins, DeVante, and Tyrell Robinson; several great-grandchildren; ex-wife Gerarda Buckner-Robinson, his step-children, Gerald Overstreet, Will Overstreet, Christine Overstreet, and Derrick Overstreet; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his miniature schnauzer Smokey. 

He is predeceased by his daughter Kimberly D. Overstreet, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation for Mr. Robinson will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, at Prugh Funeral Services, 3940 Division Street. Following the visitation, family and friends will process to the graveside service in Keokuk National Cemetery.
