
Iona May Beckman,98, of West Burlington, died Friday, April 4, 2025. She was born to Erna Moehlmann Schnupper and Holman Schnupper on Oct. 11, 1926.
Iona married Robert E. Beckman on Dec. 27, 1947, at the Danville Methodist Church, and to that union was born a daughter, Sherry.
In childhood, Iona and her brother Donald frequently entertained at local church socials and family gatherings, where they sang with Iona accompanying them on her guitar. During their marriage, Iona and Bob farmed side-by-side each year. After retirement they enjoyed playing bingo, and following Bob’s death in 1996, Iona became a regular card and bingo player at the local Steamboat Senior Center.
Iona is survived by her daughter Sherry; son-in-law Jake Kaestner; grandson, Kyle Kaestner; brother Donald Schnupper; sister-in-law Marge Gittings; brother-in-law Ron (Joanne) Beckman; and several nieces and nephews.
The Memorial Service for Iona Beckman will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2025 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends 10 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Jacob Yochum will officiate with inurnment in Aspen Grove Cemetery following the service.
Memorials have been established for St. Jude’s and the Shriners
According to Iona’s wishes cremation has been accorded, and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
