Born on Oct.12, 1943, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Howard L. and Gladys A. Zihlman Swailes. On Sept. 24, 1966, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Burlington, she married Ray Omer Moad.

Sharon was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and a member of the Divine Mercy Parish. She worked for Champion Spark Plug and later worked for West Burlington Independent School District. She was an avid reader, enjoying books written by Nora Roberts, loved to travel to go shopping for Christmas gifts and traveling with her girlfriends. Later in life she enjoyed playing Cribbage and cards with her friends and Ray. She and Ray were always up for a trip traveling the country. Sharon loved the Chicago Cubs and passed that love down to her children. Most of all she loved being with her family.

She is survived by her husband Ray; three children: Marc (Nicolette) Moad of West Burlington, Judith Moad of Palm Bay, Florida and Patty (Marcus) Rachowicz of Burlington; five grandchildren: Alexandra, Eden, Adriana and Anthony Moad and August Bunger; two step grandchildren: Morgan and Mason Rachowicz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings: Shirley Wellington, Howard Swailes, Sally Werhle and Edward Swailes; niece Diana Wellington and mother in-law.
