Peggy Lou Nichols, 94, of Burlington, died Monday, April 29, 2025, at the Wapello Specialty Care Center in Wapello.
Born April 4, 1931, in Hopkins, Mo., she was the daughter of Irvin Albert and Louise Agnes Lawler. She married Fred Charles Nichols on June 28, 1947, in Burlington. He died July 24, 2009.
Peggy worked as an inspector for Lamont Limited for 17 years until her retirement in 1993. Prior to that she worked as a waitress for many years.
She was attended First Christian Church – Disciples of Christ for many years before her decline in health. She loved to read, play bingo, work puzzles, flowers and watching cardinals. Most importantly she loved her time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her four children; Teresa Ann Nichols (Doug) Brockway of Scottsdale, Arizona, Kevin Allen Nichols of Ventura, California, Steven Charles Nichols and Jeffrey Scott Nichols both of Burlington; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
The funeral service for Mrs. Nichols will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3 at Lunning Chapel. Rev. David Yonker will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
