
Tommy C. Bowdre, 86, of Morning Sun, died Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born June 8, 1939, in Muscatine, Iowa, he was the son of Donald P. and Eloise M. Foster Bowdre. He was an Air Force veteran.
He married Carole Kruse on March 20, 1963. He worked for the Alaska Department of Transportation for over 30 years. He attended the Wapello Church of the Nazarene.
Tom enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and hunting, but most importantly time spent with his family and his Lord.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Bowdre of Morning Sun; four children, Russ (Sheryl) Snell of North Dakota, Angela McCarrell of Hollywood, California, Michele (Randy) Hoeft of Winter, Wisconsin, and Melissa (James) Thacker of West Burlington; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Earl, Donald Joe, Russell, Roy and Bill and one sister in infancy.
The graveside entombment for Tom will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Claude Perhealth will officiate. The family requests no flowers.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Church of the Nazarene in Wapello.
