Timothy J. “Tim” Brown, 76, of Burlington, died April 7, 2026 at the Lantern Park Specialty Care Center in Coralville, Iowa.

Born August 26, 1949, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Roy E. and Virginia Soethe Brown.

He was a graduate of Burlington High School and served in the Army during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart for his sacrifices.

He married Beth Buhmeyer on June 23, 1973 in Burlington at St. John Catholic Church.

Tim worked as a postal carrier for the U.|S. Post Office for 22 years until his retirement in March of 2009. He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish.

He loved being outdoors especially hunting, fishing, boating, playing and watching sports. One of his biggest pleasures in life was watching and following his grandchildren’s activities. He was a diehard fan of the Green Bay Packers, Iowa Hawkeyes and Detroit Tigers.

Survivors include his wife Beth Brown of Burlington; two children, Kristi Ervine and Nick (Jamie) Brown both of Burlington; four grandchildren, Alexandria Ervine, Sophie Brown, Daphne Brown and Roy Brown; brother Tom (Janelle) Brown and sister Carol Gebhardt both of Burlington; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Susan Gonterman and brother-in-law Ed Gebhardt.

The funeral service for Tim will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14th at St. John Catholic Church of Divine Mercy Parish. The Rev. Father Jacob Greiner will be the celebrant. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until to the time of the service on Tuesday. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. Burial will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for The Honor Flight of the Quad Cities, 4130 Northwest Blvd, Davenport, IA 52806.
