Juanita May Boyle, 96, of Burlington, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024, at the OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.
Born May 2, 1927, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Andrew and Alma R. Wilson Boyd. On May 19, 1947, she married Thomas Frederic in West Burlington. He died May 27, 2014.
Juanita worked for 32 years as a Nursing Assistant for Mercy Hospital, Burlington Medical Center, and the Klein Center.
Juanita was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. She was known for her love of gardening, and yard work. She always made sure that her yard was looking impeccable. Juanita had a love for traveling. She had been to many places including weekends in The Ozarks, Florida, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Bahamas, and five NASCAR Races. Juanita was also known to be a sports fan cheering on the Green Bay Packers, and the Cardinals. When she was not cheering on her favorite sports teams, she was always up for a good shopping trip. What she loved most of all was spending time with her family. She always looked forward to the annual family vacation and family gatherings.
Survivors include son, Philip Boyle and Paula of West Burlington, daughter, Cecilia (Darrell) Clevidence of Galesburg, Ill., granddaughter, Martha (Andy) Goodman of Galesburg, granddaughter, Margaret Strean and David of East Galesburg; six great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
As per Juanita's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. No visitation will be held, and inurnment will be at a later date.
A memorial has been established for St. Vincent dePaul Food Pantry and the Des Moines County Humane Society.
