David L. Paulus, 75, of Burlington, Iowa, died Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born on December 28, 1950, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Warren and Marie Bresser Paulus. On September 3, 1977, he married Patricia Ford. She survives.
David was a 1969 graduate of Burlington High School and graduate of Southeastern Community College. He was a United States Army veteran. David attended First United Church of Christ for many years. He worked for and retired from Burlington Bread Company. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and listening to music. He would never pass up the opportunity to play cards, especially Cribbage to which he was a professional at. David always enjoyed being with his brothers and beating them at Cribbage. His family was of top priority; his nieces and nephews brought him pride and joy.
He is survived by his wife Patricia; three brothers: Bob (Lily) Paulus, John (Debra) Paulus, and James (Stephanie) Paulus; aunt Joan Drish; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two sisters in-law: Betty Kinkead and Sandra Laski.
He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A private graveside service will be held in Burlington Memorial Park.
