
Joseph H. Nuebel, 92, of Burlington, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Sept. 8, 1930, in Lee County, he was the son of Joseph Bernard and Catherine Henrietta Fraise Nuebel. Joseph graduated from St. Joseph High School in Ft. Madison. He joined the United States Air Force on March 5, 1951, and served during the Korean War. He was an E5 Tech Sargent at the time of his separation on Dec. 3, 1954.
After his service in the Air Force, Joseph was an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration for 23 years. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He enjoyed flying.
Survivors include two brothers David Nuebel of Burlington and John (Sharon) Nuebel of Nauvoo, Ill.; sister-in-law Betty Nuebel of Ruckersville, Vir.; nine nephews; seven nieces and several great nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and six brothers.
The graveside service for Mr. Nuebel will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, at Keokuk National Cemetery. The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice in Joseph’s name.
