Duane H. Moore, 79, of Burlington, died Friday, May 24, 2024 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born Aug. 20, 1944 in Burlington, he was the son of William and Hazel Callaway Moore. Duane grew up on the family farm south of Danville. He graduated from Danville High School in 1962. And was in the Army National Guard from 1965 to 1971. On Nov. 18, 1967, he married Mary S Brown in Burlington. He was a member of Long Creek United Methodist Church.

Duane was a heavy equipment operator and worked for M.Z. Davis, Broeker Construction and retired from J & J Steel. He was a lifetime member of Union Local 150 I.O.U.E. He enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and the western channel. Years ago he enjoyed bowling on a league in Burlington. Duane loved spending time with his family and attending his grandkids’ sporting events. He had a good sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife Mary of Burlington; one daughter Michele (Jamie) Lohmann of Burlington; one son Chad (Betty) Moore of Mount  Pleasant; two grandchildren Zachary (Lindsey Reeves) Lohmann of Urbandale; Kylee (Trenton Gebhardt) Lohmann of Burlington; one brother Dick (Joyce) Moore and one sister Beverly Shepard both of Danville; several nieces and nephews and his beloved cat, Cody.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law James Shepard.

There will be a private family graveside service at Long Creek Cemetery on Wednesday, May 29 with Reverend David Mixon officiating.

A memorial has been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.
