Police Bust Alleged Meth and Pot Dealer

A Burlington man was arrested Thursday morning for allegedly dealing large amounts of methamphetamine and marijuana in the area.

Andre Emmanuel Sanders, 51, was charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of a firearm by a felon and unlawful possession of an offensive weapon. Sanders also was charged with six Des Moines County warrants, including possession of a firearm by a felon.

The Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task and the Iowa Department of Narcotics had been working the case for the past several months, after being tipped off about a man dealing large amounts of narcotics in the Burlington area.

Police executed a search warrant on Sanders’ home at 646 Higbee Ave., Thursday morning before the arrest, with the assistance of Henry County Sheriff’s office and the Iowa State Patrol Tactical Unit. Police did not say what was found during the search.

Sanders is being held without bond at the Des Moines County Correctional Center in Burlington, pending a court appearance.
