An assistant manager for the Hy-Vee on Agency Street has been arrested for allegedly stealing $10,000 worth of items and cash from the grocery store.

Burlington police arrested Christopher Allen Hartley, 45, of Burlington Wednesday and charged him with first-degree theft. Hy-Vee reported the theft to police Saturday, Feb. 8, initiating a police investigation.

Police executed a search warrant at Hartley’s home and located several stolen items, including a large sum of money, according to authorities. The items were seized by police as evidence.

Hartley started working at the Agency Street Hy-Vee in March of 2019. Before that, he was a district sales manager at the Qdoba restaurant in Springfield, Ill.

He is currently being held at the Des Moines County Correctional Center in Burlington on a $10,000 bond, pending a court appearance.
