Clinton James Bowman, 100, of Burlington died Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation facility.

Born April 25, 1922, he was the son of Ole Clinton and Betha Silicman Bowman.

He attended Yarmouth High School and graduated in 1941. He was of the Methodist faith.

On Dec. 2, 1943 he married Marcella Helen Hartman in Burlington. She died Sept. 19, 2013.

Clinton served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as a water tender from Sept. 1942 to Nov. 1945. He went on the April 6, 2017, Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

Clinton was a lineman for ISU for 33 years. He was a member of the VFW 10102 and the Moose Lodge. He was a founding member of the Blackhawk Auto Restorers and a founding member of Southeast Iowa Antique Car Club.

Survivors include his great nieces, Sandra (Kevin) Shauman of Kirkwood, Ill., and Debra (Danny) Evans of LaHarpe, Ill.; daughter-in-law Barbara Bowman of New London; great-great-niece and nephews Shannon (Felecia) Pence, Amber (Jason) Duncan, Andrew (Erica) Pence, Skyler (Mariah) Pence, Clifford (Tori) Evans; great-great-great nieces and nephews Sidney, Taylor, Sawyer Pence, Jack, Elizabeth, Ames Duncan, William Pence, Adalynn, Levi, Brinley Pence, and Raiden Evans and baby Evans due in April and bonus friend Wayne Schmitz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marcella, sisters Viola Smith and Arlene Heater; sons Leonard and Steven and niece and nephew Alice Hartman and Robert Wiley.

The service for Clinton will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30 at Lunning Chapel. Military Rites will be conducted by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will follow at Trinity Cemetery in Mt. Union. Family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30.
