Linda Susan McEntee, 71, of Nauvoo, Illinois, passed away at 1:25 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2026 at her home.

Linda was born on October 30, 1954, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Tommy & Dolores (Richers) LaVelle. She graduated from Dallas City High School in 1972. On November 17, 1973, she was married at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo, IL, to David Hogan, who preceded her in death. On June 10, 1977, she married Gene McEntee at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo, IL, who survives.

Linda was a homemaker & mother staying at home with the children until they all were in school. She then worked part-time until they were all in high school. She worked for Outlaw Tees & Nauvoo Cheese Co, Nauvoo, IL then at Huffman Welding & Machine, Inc. in Fort Madison, IA retiring in 2017. Linda enjoyed many activities in her life but enjoyed spending time with her family & friends the most.

Linda is survived by her husband Gene of Nauvoo, IL, 4 children (which she always referred to as 8 children.) Jeff & Brenda Lowman of Nauvoo, IL, Jerry & Bridgitt Hutson of Niota, IL, Tom & Carla McEntee of Dallas City, IL and Matt & Amy Shanks of Ankeny, IA. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren; Romello Virgil, Matthew Hutson & Brady Boyer of Fort Madison, IA; Allie (Dylan) O’Neal of Liberty, MO; Malley Hutson (Tyler Barton) of Medler, LA; Reyna Lampe of Mt Vernon, GA; Natalie Shanks (Riley Close) of Ankeny, IA; Marissa Hutson of Niota, IL; Hailey & Tyler Shanks of Ankeny, IA; Noah Hutson of Nauvoo, IL; Sydney, Libby & Liam McEntee of Dallas City, IL; Josh (Alex) Lowman and Sarah (Adam) Campbell of Warsaw, IL and 4 great grandchildren, Melleana & Kaido Virgil of Fort Madison, IA; Landen Lowman & Caroline Campbell of Warsaw, IL; her sister & brother-in-law Gary & Connie Harrison of Leesburg, FL and her brother Jim LaVelle of San Antonio, TX; brothers & sisters-in-law, Cathy (Robert) Clifton, PJ Hogan, Fort Madison, IA; Vernon Wolf, Marshfield, MO; Terry Rush, Tulsa, OK; Carl (Donna) McEntee, Dianne McEntee, Linda (Fidd) Fasching, Niota, IL; Jim (Bev) McEntee, Cedar Rapids, IA; Ann (Jim) Vincent, Denmark, IA; Carol Varnadore, Eufaula, AL; several nephews, nieces and friends.

Linda was preceeded in death by her husband David, her parents Tommy & Dolores, son-in-law Matt Hutson, her brother Ken LaVelle; her sister & brother-in-law Tod & Sandy Melton; her in laws Leonard & Doris McEntee; Ambrose & Emeline Hogan and brothers & sisters-in-laws, Pat McEntee, Nora Wolf, Mary Rush, Leonard Hogan, Ronald & Joan Hogan, Richard Hogan, Earl Varnadore, and her niece Shelley Harrison.

Cremation has been entrusted to Schmitz-Banks & Beals Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2026, at Schmitz-Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Nauvoo, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo with Fr. Tony Trosley as Celebrant. Burial to follow in Myers Cemetery near Pontoosuc, Illinois.
