John's early life in Iowa laid the foundation for a lifetime of dedication and service. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1957, and continued his education at the University of Missouri, where he earned his degree in 1961. Following his studies, John honorably served in the Army for two years, where he developed skills that would benefit him throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Dorothy.

Professionally, John was a respected Computer Systems Analyst and Project Manager at JCPenney, where he worked until his retirement. His commitment to community was evident through his 18 years of service on the Village Board in Brown Deer. In recent years, he served as the president of the condo association, demonstrating his ongoing dedication to leadership and community engagement.

John and Sharon enjoyed traveling and volunteering at the Grapevine Opry while residing in Texas.  He was also an avid train collector. His joy was most evident when playing with his great-grandchildren, a testament to his caring and playful spirit.
