
LeRoy Baker, 80, of Burlington, died Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at New London Specialty Care in New London. Born August 10, 1944, in Bethany, Mo., he was the son of Malcolm and Thelma Orfield Baker.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving from March 24, 1964 until March 21, 1966.
LeRoy worked for Winegard for over 50 years.
LeRoy was a happy man. He was always laughing and joking around. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching sports, especially Iowa Hawkeye women's basketball and the Chicago Bears. He was a huge Caitlin Clark and Walter Payton fan.
Survivors include his long time partner of 40 years, Joyce Wagner of Burlington; daughter, Angela Wilkerson of Donnellson; step-daughter, Christine Sherrill; step-son, Stephen Wagner both of Burlington; grandchildren, Jerry Stout of Burlington, Samantha (Dustin) Walljasper of Donnellson, Daniel Parrish of Iowa City, Jacob Mincks of Davenport, Jessica Sherrill of Burlington, Christopher Wagner of Burlington, Drew Wilkerson of Texas, Alex Wilkerson of Texas, Caleb Wilkerson of West Burlington, and Lily Wilkerson of Wapello; 11 great grandchildren, Axton, Meika, Brantley, Ryker, Nevaeh, Kastella, Draven, Talion, Thrain, Saffire, and Zay; half sisters, Ruth, Iris, and Eva; two half brothers, Calvin and his wife, Jean West and Charlie West; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Chris Wilkerson; sister, Shirley Baker; half sister, Ilia; and half brother, Bill.
The graveside committal service for Mr. Baker will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2025, Keokuk National Cemetery with Pastor Calvin West officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the Keokuk Area Honor Guard.
