James "Jim" Dallas Goudie, 59, of West Burlington, died Friday, March 25, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
Born June 18, 1962, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa he was the son of Vernon and Dorothy (Brown) Goudie.
He was a 1980 graduate of Mediapolis High School.
Jim married Julie Balzer on April 3, 1982, in Burlington, Iowa, and together they celebrated 40 years of marriage.
He served as a correctional officer for the Iowa State Penitentiary. He retired in 2017.
Jim took great joy in being a grandpa! He had a very giving nature
and was always willing to help, was reliable and a great listener. He
was always there for his family and was and all-around guy. He loved to
take his Harley Davidson out for rides.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Goudie of West Burlington; two
children, Michael James Goudie of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Ashley
(Charles) Mitchell of Ely, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Ceylon, Alex,
Emilia, Haven, Charli, Lillian and Gavin; two brothers, David Goudie of
Iowa City, and Brian (Felicia) Goudie of Louisa, Virginia; one sister
Michelle Ekstrand of Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service for Jim will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2022, at
Lunning Chapel. Interment will be held in Prairie Grove Cemetery, rural
West Burlington. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Thursday, March 31st at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive
friends.
