Donald J. Mayo, 83, of Burlington, Iowa, died peacefully Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.

Born on July 13, 1948, in Fort Madison, Iowa, he was the son of Albert and Doris Scanlan Mayo. On September 9, 1978, at Aldersgate Chapel in Burlington, he married Janet M. Siverly. She preceded him in death on February 19, 2019.

Don worked for and retired from the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for 35 years as a welder. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church for several years. In his free time, Don enjoyed going every weekend with his late wife to different antique shows. Finding an antique tractor to add to his collection always made his day. Don also enjoyed a day of fishing and relaxing. A sports fan he was, always cheering on his two favorite teams the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs.  He was also a devoted doggie dad to his precious Shih Tzu, Molly, who brought comfort to him after Janet's passing.

He is survived by his children: Jolene Paton of Burlington, Jaclyn Karzon of Georgia and Shane Mayo of Georgia; two grandsons: Blake Caraballo and Luke Paton and sister Debbie (Jerry) Heaton of Bushnell, Illinois. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Janet, brother Jim Mayo and sisters: Linda Campbell and Carolyn Ford.

Per his wishes cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care Lunning Chapel. No services will be held.
