Burlington Man Arrested for Making Meth and Maintaining A Drug House

Police arrested a Burlington man Friday (April 10) for allegedly producing methamphetamine and maintaining a drug house.

Robert Ian Heffernan, 37, of Burlington is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine over 5 grams. He also is charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, maintaining a drug house (methamphetamine), child endangerment, as well as a Lee County warrant for a parole violation.

Police arrested Heffernan after executing a search warrant at 1513 Lincoln St. in Burlington. Agencies involved in the search included the Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force, Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement, Burlington Police Department and the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office.

Burlington Police Lt. Wayne Thomson said the arrest was just the latest into a multi-agency investigation pertaining to a subject who was manufacturing narcotics in the Burlington area. Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force, the Lee County Narcotics Task Force and the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement (DNE) are heading up the investigation. Another meth resulted from the investigation on March 30.

Heffernan is being held at the Des Moines County Correctional Center in Burlington.
