The Flint River Trail from Starr’s Cave Nature Center to the Starr’s Cave Bridge is closed beginning today (Wednesday, April 15) for trail maintenance and silt removal, according to the Des Moines County Conservation Department.

Conservation officials said spring flooding left behind a large amount of sediment on and around the trail that needs to be removed. The project requires heavy equipment to travel on the trail, thus resulting in the closure notice.

The trail is expected to reopen on Thursday, April 30. For more information, contact Starr’s Cave Nature Center at (319) 753-5808.
