The woman found unconscious by Burlington firefighters during a Friday house fire on Grove Street has died.
Patricia Gray, 65, 1527 Grove St., died of smoke inhalation Saturday, April 18, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She was initially treated at the scene and at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington before being transferred to Iowa City.
Three dogs also perished in the blaze.
Fire investigators have determined an area of origin for the fire but have not yet determined the cause. The fire is not considered suspicious.
The house did have working smoke alarms and suffered an estimated $30,000 in damage to the structure and $15,000 in contents. The home was insured. The American Red Cross has been called to assist the family.
The Burlington police and fire departments along with agents with the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s office conducted the investigation.
