Brenda Sue Mutchler, 67, of Burlington, died Wednesday, April 16, at her home in Burlington. Born March 20, 1958, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Charles J. and Sandra J. Turner Mutchler.
Brenda worked as a CNA for 20 years and then for the Des Moines County Humane Society for 10 years.
She attended Parkside Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and playing with her spoiled cat, Sunny. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, watching them fish, swimming with them and playing barbies with her granddaughter.
Survivors include three daughters, Karri Swartzlander, Melissa "Missy" (Robert) Jacobs and Jessica Ball, all of Burlington; nine grandchildren, Jordan, Caitlin, Austin, Jakob, Joshua, Kayla, Abigail, Isaiah and Gideon; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles "Joe" Mutchler and Darrell Mutchler, both of Burlington; and special friend, Max Wall.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Cheryl Canterbury.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, April 25, concluding with her funeral service at 3 p.m. at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street, with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. Brenda will be laid to rest in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
