Steven Robert Martin, 60, of Shell Rock, passed away at home on Thursday night, Oct. 3, 2024, of natural causes. Steve was born on July 11, 1964, in Burlington, the son of Connie Elaine Raid and Robert Laverne Martin. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1983 and earned his bachelor’s degree in fisheries and wildlife management from Iowa State University in 1988. Steve worked as a naturalist for Butler County Conservation and also as a Deputy Sheriff for the Butler County Sheriff’s Office. Steve was united in marriage to Teresa Marie Lehman on June 13, 2017. Steve loved the outdoors and spending time at the farm. He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, and turkey hunting with Chris. Some knew him as “Nature Boy.” He also liked playing basketball, Butler County League Softball, pickleball, and golf. Spending time with friends and family was important to him, especially following Stacy’s softball teams and his granddaughter’s soccer games. Watching the Iowa Hawkeye games and woodworking were also among his favorite pastimes. He had a lifelong love for Golden Retrievers. Steve is survived by his wife, Teresa; three children, Chris Martin (Jake Cash) of Cedar Falls, Stacy Martin of Mason City, and Karly Lehman (Landon Balvanz) of Waverly; three granddaughters, Briella, Jazzmynn, and Stella; his sisters, Cherie (Hal) Reid of Burlington, Iowa and Tricia (Randy) Bolton of Osceola, Iowa; and a niece, Emma Bolton (Timber Kent). He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Mel and Bonnie Raid and Farrell and Dorothy Martin; a son, Kaleb Lehman; and a niece, Ally Bolton. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock, with Pastor Joel Becker presiding. The service may be viewed on the church You Tube Channel: faithlutheransr. Visitation will be from 4 to 7: p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
