Lee County Man Found Dead In Mississippi River Saturday Night

A 24-year-old Donnellson man was discovered in the Mississippi River Saturday night (July 4) — the same night a Burlington man was found in the water near Bluff Harbor Marina.



According to a report from Lee County Sheriff Stacy Weber, Devyn Broeker, 24 of Donnellson was recovered by emergency divers in the area of Sandusky. He was last seen by witnesses riding a pull-behind flotation device at 5:45 p.m. on the Mississippi River near the Sandusky sand bar in the area of 3400 River Road.



The Burlington man, who also was found dead in the river Saturday night, has been identified by immediate family on social media as Harold Ware. However, police haven't officially released the person's name as of Sunday afternoon.



Police discovered his body Saturday after a bystander called at about 8:30 p.m. that same evening.
