
Mary Anne Walsh, 70, of Burlington, died Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health & Hospice in West Burlington.
Born October 18, 1951, in Keosauqua, she was the daughter of Martin and Pauline Howard Dreckmeier. She was of the Catholic faith. Mary graduated from Burlington High School in 1969 and completed 2 years of Beauty School. She was a hairdresser for over 30 years, most of those at Headlines, Ltd. in Burlington.
On June 21, 1969, she married Gary Walsh at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Burlington.
Mary enjoyed planting flowers and shopping. She especially enjoyed the Christmas season and being with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Gary; two sons, Brian (Leslie) Walsh of Waukee, Brad (Angela) Walsh of Shawnee, Kans.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and seven siblings, Buz Dreckmeier, John Dreckmeier, Sandy Ball, Paul Dreckmeier, Jim Dreckmeier, Tom Dreckmeier, all of Burlington, Mark Dreckmeier of Carolton, Texas, and Terry Scott Dreckmeier of Kansas City, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Don Dreckmeier, and half-brother, Martin “Junie” Dreckmeier, Jr.
The memorial service for Mary will be Monday, May 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Lunning Chapel, with Reverend Dean Graber officiating. The visitation will be Sunday, May 15, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lunning Chapel.
Per her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to Lunning Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society, Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City, and Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.
