Jeffrey Knotts is presumably no longer in the city council race.

The primary election on Tuesday narrowed seven city council candidates down to the six who will go on to run for three open council seats in November.

Voters were to select no more than three candidates; those who picked fewer were counted as an undervote. No overvotes were counted.

According to unofficial election results, a total of 648 people voted on Tuesday, comprising 3.85 percent of the 16,840 eligible voters.

Going into the November election, current Burlington Mayor Jon Billups, mayor pro tem Lynda Graham-Murray and council member Matt Rinker are vying to retain their council seats, while Antonio Bailey, Chris Roepke, and Terry Schnack are attempting to claim them.

The unofficial vote tallies below were provided by the Des Moines County Auditor’s office:

Jon D. Billups – 468 votes, 26.79 percent

Lynda Graham-Murray – 327 votes, 18.72 percent

Matt Rinker – 284 votes, 16.26 percent

Chris Roepke – 192 votes, 10.99 percent

Antonio Bailey – 171 votes, 9.79 percent

Terry Schnack – 169 votes, 9.67 percent
