
Pauline Vivian DeFosse, 95, of Burlington, died Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born October 12, 1930, in Prairie Grove, Iowa, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Grace Dickey Finke. She graduated from Danville High School. On October 16, 1949, she married Carl Franklin DeFosse in Prairie Grove, IA.
She ran an in-home daycare for many years when her children were young. She then worked for many years in food service for the Burlington School System.
She was a long-time member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. She loved the Lord, and her church was very important to her. Pauline was an excellent seamstress. She was a wonderful cook and also enjoyed listening to music.
Survivors include two daughters, Patty Chacey of Burlington and Paula (David) McPherson of Davenport; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Stephen DeFosse; two brothers, Willett and Clifford Finke; and one sister, Delores "Elaine" Hagemeier.
A private family celebration of life for Pauline will be held. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Unity Lutheran Church.
