Victor Sereda, 74, of Burlington, died Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Windmill Manor in Coralville.

Born Oct. 18, 1948, in Germany, he was the son of Harry and Polina Rokitiauska Sereda. On Oct. 19, 1973, he married Lila Ashby in Burlington. 

Victor graduated from Burlington High School. 

Victor was a United States Marine Veteran, serving in Vietnam as part of the 1st Marine Division in Guadalcanal from 68-69.

After serving in the Marines, he worked as a track inspector for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 20 years.

Victor enjoyed hiking, woodworking, camping, boating and just being in nature. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren fish in the pond.

Survivors include his wife, Lila Sereda; son, Mark Sereda of Burlington; step-sons, Randy Boyd of West Branch, and Rodney Boyd of Phoenix, Ariz.; step-daughter, Julie Boyd of Phoenix, Ariz.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie (Jack) Warnick of Kansas, Mo; brothers, Stan (Lorraine) Sereda of Spokane, Wash.,  Jim Sereda of Burlington, and Jon (Lillian) Sereda of Burlington; brother-in-law, Gary Duckstein; sisters-in-law, Mary and Marie; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Mike and Steve, and one sister, Val Duckstein.

A celebration of life for Victor will be held at a later date.
