
Mary Louise "Mimi" Niehaus, 91, of Burlington, died Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born June 2, 1933, in Burlington, she was the daughter of George and Suzanne Heil Beuckman. On August 3, 1957, she married Whitford "Whit" Sourwine Niehaus in Burlington. He died December 10, 2001.
Mimi taught school for three years; one year in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and two in Burlington. After teaching, she helped in the office of Niehaus Motor Co.
She was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church. She also belonged to Hetta Gilbert, PEO and Aqua Babes.
Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne (Tim) Johnson of Burlington and Mary (Sanjeev Pandey) Niehaus of Chicago, IL; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Anne Crowl of Council Bluffs; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
The memorial service for Mrs. Niehaus will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Christ Episcopal Church with Father Carl Mann officiating. Coffee time will be held at Christ Episcopal Church following the service. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials have been established for the Burlington Municipal Band, Des Moines County Historical Society or a charity of your choice.
