
Shirley Jean Collett, 80, of Burlington, died Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice in West Burlington.
Born December 8, 1944, in Ottumwa, IA, she was the daughter of Warren Cliffard Troxel and Mildred Mae Adamson Troxel. On August 10, 1963 she married Barry Oliver Collett in Ottumwa.
Shirley worked for Attenacraft, Heatilator, IRC/TRW and Winegard over the years until her retirement.
Shirley was a member of Flint Hills Church of the Nazarene, and also served on the church board. For Shirley, family was the number one priority in her life, and she also enjoyed playing cards, camping, and participating in the blood drive.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Barry Collett of Burlington; three children, Steven L. (Pam) Collett of Burlington, Barry O. Collett, Jr. of North Attleboro, MA, and Sherry J. (Kim) Collett of Melbourne, FL; three grandchildren, Dan (Jessica), Nick (Sam) and Cody; two great-grandchildren, Braelynn, Dayton, and Richard Oliver; five nieces, and two nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Robert W. Troxel and Jerry L. Troxel and one great-grandson, Tyson Fredrick Collett.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Visitation will be from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM, Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Flint Hills Church of the Nazarene, 2007 Agency Street.
The memorial service for Mrs. Collett will be 12:30 PM Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Flint Hills Church of the Nazarene, 2007 Agency Street. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
