Vicki Hawkins, 78, of Geneseo, Ill., died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024, at Unity Point Health in Rock Island, Ill.

She was born on Oct. 30, 1945, in Moline, Ill., the daughter of Alvin W. “Bud” and Helen Alice Misfeldt Beaty. 

She is survived by her children: Martha (Dean Wood) Hawkins of Monroe, Iowa, Larry (Vickey) Hawkins of Jefferson City, Missouri, Adam (Sara) Hawkins of Geneseo, Illinois; grandchildren: Heather (Chris) Conoan, Dallas (Amanda) Lovell, Ryan (Phylicia) Hawkins, Matthew (Trinity) Hawkins, Jynessa (Alex) Jin, Taylor Hawkins, Aiden Hawkins, Camryn Hawkins; great grandchildren: Azalea, Trenton and Daisy Conoan, Ryan, Posy, Malibu, Shaylee, Ryalee and Kara Hawkins; two sisters: Carol (Harold) Carter of Keosauqua, Iowa, LouAnn (Gary) Glover of Keokuk, Iowa; four brothers: Frank (Katherine) Beaty of Ocean City, Maryland, David (Kathy) Beaty of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Paul (Peggy) Beaty of Winfield, Iowa, Robert (Rochelle) Beaty of Holcomb, Illinois. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: husband: Charles Hawkins and two brothers: John and Duane Beaty.

Vicki was a 1964 graduate of Harmony High School. She graduated from Southeastern Community College with a Bachelor of Nursing degree. She worked as a nurse in various departments at the Keokuk Area Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of the Eldridge United Methodist Church and the Lion’s Club in Eldridge. Vicki enjoyed watching movies/TV series, reading, listening to music and attending her grandchildren’s activities. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes sports fan. She had a great sense of humor and loved to discuss current events. Most of all, Vicki was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who loved spending time with her family. She was affectionately named “Goober” by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Farmington.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Farmington, with Pastor Chad Welch officiating.

Burial will be held at a later date at Blackledge Cemetery.

Memorials have been established in her memory for Farmington Methodist Church or Blackledge Cemetery.
