
Jack Richard Waterhouse, 76, of Sperry, Iowa, died on May 28, 2026 at Prairie Ridge in Mediapolis, Iowa.
Born on August 26, 1949, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Lester and Betty (Thacker) Waterhouse. He married Kathryn Esty on November 23, 1968 at Bethany Lutheran Church.
Jack was a 1967 graduate of Burlington High School. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army. He then worked for J. I. Case until his retirement in 2001.
He loved guns (collecting and shooting them), reading and watching Westerns, hunting, swap meets and sales, tending to his livestock, pigeons, pies, and anything blueberry flavored. Most importantly (other than his beloved grandchildren), he loved to harass and kid around and gossip.
He is survived by his wife, Kathi of Sperry; three sons Jeffrey (Charlene) Waterhouse of New London, Jacob Waterhouse of Sperry, and Joshua (Stacy) Waterhouse of Sperry; his WONDERFUL grandchildren, Kourtney (Jason Starr) Waterhouse, Kameron Waterhouse, Wyatt Waterhouse, and Randi Samberg; two brothers Donald (Barb) Waterhouse of Macon, MO and Kenneth (Deb) Waterhouse of Mount Pleasant; one aunt, Agnes Thacker, two uncles John (Annice) Thacker, and Bob (Frances) Thacker, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13th at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites at 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service. Burial will be held in Kossuth Cemetery, Mediapolis, Iowa.
A memorial has been established for Compassus Hospice, and the DMC Fair for maintenance of the Rabbit/Poultry Barn.
