Miaree M. Ure, 43, of Coralville, formerly of Mediapolis, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.
Born Feb. 29, 1980, in Anamosa, she was the daughter of David and Ann Burke Ure.
Miaree graduated from Mediapolis High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts double major in Theater and English from the University of Iowa, as well as an associate of Arts degree from Kirkwood Community College in Interior Design. She worked in retail at Dillard’s Department Store in Coralville.
Miaree was a member of First United Methodist Church in Burlington. She loved being with her friends, live music including Pearl Jam, and watching movies. Her favorite flower was the Iris. Her favorite dog was the Beagle. She enjoyed spending time with her fur babies Rosie, Lucy, and Frankie. She loved Halloween, and her favorite color was orange.
Survivors include her parents, David and Ann Ure, of Burlington; one brother Mitchell (Emily) Ure of St. Louis, Mo.; one nephew, Henry Ure; God-brother and God-sister Matt (Sharon) Shaw and their children, Anneliese and Elijah of Mediapolis; aunt and uncle Pat (Diane) Burke of Green Valley, Ariz.; aunt Corene Burke of Elkader; several cousins; and the best group of friends a girl could have.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Leona and Ray Burke of Oelwein, and Naomi and Ralph Ure of Perry, and uncle Bill Burke of Elkader, and cousin Andrew Larson.
Per her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
The Celebration of Life for Miaree will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, at First United Methodist Church in Burlington with Reverend Dan Fernandez officiating. The visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, at Lunning Chapel.
Memorials have been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society and the Southeast Iowa National Alliance of Mental Illness.
