Mickey Allan Garrison, 80, of Burlington, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 8, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving three daughters.

Born on May 6, 1944, in Keokuk, he was the son of Milton and Opal O’Laughlan Garrison. On Nov. 18, 1967, in Malden, Mass., he married Kathleen Ann Ford. She preceded him in death on Oct. 10, 2022.

Mickey was a proud veteran of the United States Navy where he served on the USS Wasp and USS Randolph. He worked for J.I. Case and then Heartland Express as a truck driver where he retired from. Mickey loved riding his motorcycle, hunting, playing cards and tinkering in the garage. As a retired truck driver, he loved long road trips and “letting the world go by”. He enjoyed starting each day with a hot cup of coffee and ending it while indulging in a big bowl of ice cream. No matter who Mickey ran into or talked to, he would never leave without saying "go ahead and take the day off". That was his way of showing gratitude and saying goodbye.

Mickey was most proud of his three daughters and eight grandchildren who loved him dearly.

He is survived by his three daughters: Kerri (Michael) Upton, Jodi (Aaron) Childs both of Vancouver, Washington, and Cindy (Chris) Sawyer of Anderson, South Carolina; eight grandchildren: Kelsie, Lyndsie, Jaden, Jackson, Garrison, Autumn, Hannah and Mollie; brother in-law William Ford of West Burlington, Iowa and sister in-law Nancy Lubinski of Salem, New Hampshire.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Kathleen.

Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. His family will celebrate his life privately together per his wishes.
