Dave W. Stewart, 74, of West Burlington, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born July 21, 1950, in Burlington, he was the son of Robert and Geneva Whitacre Stewart.

Dave was a 1968 graduate of West Burlington High School, and later went on to graduate from the University of Northern Iowa in 1972. After graduating UNI, Dave began his lifelong career as a teacher and coach, at Preston High School in Preston. He loved teaching and loved his students.

Dave was very crafty, he took inspiration from his environment and would gift his works of art "StewArt" to friends and family. He enjoyed poetry, visiting with others and was always learning new things. He tried to pass on his knowledge and could recite a quote to help with any situation you were in. Also important to Dave were the rules of golf “no mulligans, no gimmes, and no food wedges”. Uncle to all, Dave will be remembered by his kind but slightly ornery spirit and his love for all.

Dave's family include his siblings, John (Jody) Stewart of Lenexa, Kan., and Linda Davies of Wichita, Kan.; several nephews, a very special niece, and multiple great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, Dale Stewart and  brother-in-law, Smith Davies

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.  No services are scheduled at this time.

Memorial contributions in Dave's memory are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.

Please continue to keep Dave's family in your thoughts during this difficult time.
