
Charles M. “Charlie” Wilton, 73, of Burlington, Iowa, passed away at 3:25 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.
Charlie was born March 26, 1952, in Colony, Kansas, the son of Justin and Emma Lorena (McGuirk) Wilton. On April 13, 1980, he married Connie Hensley in LaHarpe. She survives.
Mr. Wilton spent his childhood years in Missouri until his family relocated to Blandinsville, Illinois. He was a graduate of Northwestern High School. Following high school, he received his Bachelor's Degree from Eureka College in Eureka, Illinois. He began his working career in the construction industry; working for Hoffmeister Construction in Blandinsville. Later, he worked security at the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison. Lastly, he retired as a Superintendent of Security from the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown.
He enjoyed photography, painting, carpentry and using his carpentry skills to help others.
Besides his wife, survivors include one son: Matt (Wrema) Strauser of North Liberty, Iowa; three grandchildren: Dalton, Lauren, and Justin; two sisters: Justina (Garry) Schultz of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Cora Foglesong of North Platte, Nebraska; and one brother: Mark (Dotti) Wilton of Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Kathryn Harding and Zada Wilton and another sister and brother in infancy.
Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe.
Burial will be held at a later date in the LaHarpe Cemetery.
