Josie Ilene Hill, 84, of Burlington, died Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born July 15, 1939, in Grant, Ala., she was the daughter of Herbert and Bertha  Kirkland Fultz. On Jan., 1956, she married Toy General Hill in Mississippi. 

Josie worked grinding railroad tracks in Chicago, before transitioning to a homemaker .

Josie was a wonderful woman, with an amazing sense of humor. Family was very important to Josie. She enjoyed spending time with all of her family, especially her grandchildren. Josie had four dogs, which she considered her children as well. When she wasn't spending time with her family or her furbabies, she enjoyed the comforts of getting lost in a good book.

Survivors include son, Michael Hill of Burlington, daughter, Sheila (Sam) Smith of Burlington, daughter, Pamela (George) Mildenberger of Wis., sister, Arlene Scheffki, 11 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 

Josie was preceded in death by her husband, Toy General Hill; her parents; and three sons; Danny, Rickey, and Terry.

The Graveside Committal Service for Josie will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Aspen Grove with Pastor Dean Graber officiating.
