Mark Stephen Weiss, 64, of Burlington, died Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Born Feb. 20, 1959, in Burlington, he was the son of James and Dana Weiss. He married Brenda McCabe and together they had two children. They later divorced. He then married Deborah Johnson. They later divorced.

Mark was a Burlington High School Graduate. 

He worked for Exide before becoming an employee of the City of Burlington. 

Mark was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and the Eagles Club. He was a very hard worker and a big outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and going out on the river in the boat. He was a Cubs fan, and enjoyed golf and NASCAR.

Survivors include his mother, Dana Weiss of West Burlington; three children, Melissa Weiss of Burlington, Ben (Maegan) Weiss of Farmersburg, and Justin Weiss of West Burlington; two step-daughters, Shawna Ranney and Stephanie Ranney both of Burlington; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bradley (Juli) Weiss and Brian Weiss of Burlington; and sister, Laura (Randy) Weiss-Ferguson of Burlington.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Clayton Connelly, and sister-in-law, Earlene Weiss. 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

The memorial service for Mr. Weiss will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street with Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established for St. Vincent de Paul food pantry.
