Dorothy L. Shanstrom, 77, of Burlington, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington. Born July 17, 1944, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Robert Dean and Katherine Louise Lammert Billingsley. She married Gary Shanstrom on Sept. 8, 1963, in Hillsboro. He died Jan. 27, 1998. Dorothy worked as a supervisor at Burlington Medical Center until her retirement in 1994. Prior to that, she worked for 15 years as an employment recruiter for the federal government. She is survived by her four children, Mark Shanstrom of West Point, Lora Pitts and Todd Shanstrom, both of rural Burlington, and Dawn Worley of Wapello; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. A private graveside service and inurnment will be held at a later date in Prairie Grove Cemetery, rural West Burlington. According to her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
