
Richard Dale Dameron, 92, of Burlington, died Friday, October 21, 2022, at Oak View Care and Rehabilitation Center in Burlington.
Born August 27, 1930 in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Lee A. and Armeda C. (Wills) Dameron. He was a graduate of Burlington High School and Burlington Business College.
He served in the Navy during the Korean conflict. He married Joan V. Granaman on November 13, 1953 in Kahoka, Mo. She died January 7, 2020.
Richard delivered The Hawk Eye newspaper when he was younger, delivered milk, and worked construction. He worked for Benner Tea Company, Farmall in Moline, Ill., Lagomarcino, Caterpillar and then worked on the docks at Exide Battery until his retirement. He was a proud Union worker his entire life.
He was a member of the UAW, was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, bowled for many years, and loved to play pranks on people. He was a great Pinochle player.
Survivors include his two sons; Marvin (Cindy) Dameron and Kevin (Linda) Dameron Sr. both of Burlington; stepson Michael Mellinger of Burlington; five grandchildren, Jeremy Dameron, Jodi Dameron, Summer Coleman, Kevin Dameron Jr. and Angela Lowary; step-grandchildren, Katie Mellinger and Christopher Augustine; numerous great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren with one on the way; two brothers, Robert Dameron of Burlington, Arthur “Bud” Dameron of Washington, Iowa; sister Betty Drain of Arkansas and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, Gene, Clancy, and William and two sisters Marcella and Evelyn.
The funeral service for Mr. Dameron will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 25th at Lunning Chapel. Pastor Dean Graber will officiate. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. Interment at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral service.
