Marilyn H. Lewis Anderson, 98, of Burlington, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice in West Burlington.
Born Jan. 23, 1925, in West Burlington, she was the daughter of Clarence Philip and Mildred Helen DeWitt Lietsch. On May 22, 1943, she married Floyd E. Lewis at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Burlington. He died July 7, 1995. On Jan. 1, 1997, she married Clarence W. "Bud" Anderson at Messiah Lutheran Church in Burlington. He died Feb. 21, 2011.
Marilyn was a homemaker.
She attended St. Mary's grade school and graduated from St. Paul's Catholic High School.
She was a member of S.S. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington, and was active in their Altar and Rosary Society. She bowled for 25 years with the Senior League in Burlington. She was a member of the Happy Hookers, a sewing club in Chicago. Marilyn was very crafty and could be found sewing, quilting and doing various other craft projects. She enjoyed traveling and camping with her family. She was an avid reader and could always be found with a book in her hands. Her family meant everything to her.
Survivors include her three sons, Mark Lewis of Chillicothe, David Lewis of Burlington, and Andrew (Tina) Lewis of Altoona; two daughters, Jane (Robert) Knoll of Burlington, and Nancy (Ernie) Beeney of Trivoli, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 17 great great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law, Sharon Knutson.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Doris Wiele, De Etta Senn, Elizabeth Karle and Joanne Rodger, and one brother, John Lietsch.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 12:30 PM Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Anderson will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington with Fr. Jake Greiner as the Celebrant. A time of food and fellowship will be held in St. Mary's Parish Center following the service. Burial will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, in Oquawka Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Divine Mercy Parish - S.S. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church.
