Bruce “Skip” Yurth, 55, of Mt Pleasant died Thursday, March 16, 2023.

Born Jan. 16, 1968, in Fort Madison, he was the son of Bruce Coleman Yurth Sr and Karen Edna Burdette. He was raised by Robert Hand. He attended Burlington Community Schools.

Skip was a general laborer and maintenance worker at West Liberty Foods in Mt. Pleasant. He liked to make music on his computer. Skip loved to talk and had a way of expressing himself and making his family feel important. Skip never met a stranger.

Survivors include his stepsons Trent Bagwell, Michael Bagwell, Rodney Bagwell, and Ed Bagwell all of Mt. Pleasant; his biological father Bruce Yurth Sr. of Ft. Madison; four sisters, Tami (John) Gaines and Joni (Tristan Jager) Hand both of Burlington, Angela Thomason of Blandinsville, Ill., Mandy Yurth of Fort Madison and Bobbie Hand and Taylor Hand both of North Carolina; four brothers John (Jenny Wiegard) Hand-Hanson, Robby Hand and Brandon Hand all of Burlington and Joseph Hand of North Carolina and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother Karen Burdette and father Bob Hand.

The memorial visitation for Skip will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22at Lunning Chapel. Following the visitation, a celebration of life will be held at the Burlington Gym.

Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
