Dale Kim Navntoft, 67 years, of Fort Madison, died Saturday, December 10, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born January 23, 1955, the son of Pete and Martha Nosich Navntoft.  He first married Janet Welch, and together they had two girls, Melissa and Elizabeth.  They later divorced.  On December 30, 1988, he married Janet Thompson.  She survives.

While in Colorado Dale worked construction, building homes, and doing professional drywall work.  He moved to Iowa in 1978 and built his first home in Denmark.  He was a welder for Huffman’s and then Case Company.  He worked at Gleason Corporation for 28 years, where he was the plant manager and helped close the facility.  He loved building things, Rock n’ Roll, fishing, shooting pool, yard work, and cars.   

He is survived by his wife, of Fort Madison; two daughters, Melissa Flores and Elizabeth (Brian) Ross, both of Burlington, Iowa; two step-daughters, JoAnn (Albert) Pritt of Weatherford, Tex. and Angie (John) Gagne of Belleville, Ill.; one sister, Norma Navntoft of Denver, Colo.; one half-sister, Barb Hallenbeck of Westminster, Colo.; seven grandchildren:  Blaine, Ashley, Kyle, Amber, Robert, Andrew, and Loren; one niece, two nephews, and The Thompson Family.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons, Tatum and Bryson.

Dale’s family will greet friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.  A celebration of life will follow and begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
